Claudia Molted!

Hello everyone. Claudia molted two days ago, so we have another empty crab floating around the Crabitat™. She was laying low for a couple of days while her new outfit congealed, but now she seems to be running around just fine. The crablings I mentioned in a previous crab report have all died, which was a bit sad but not at all surprising. They made it for about 36 hours. If this sort of thing happens again, I'll siphon them up in a turkey baster and give them a large jar of artificial sea water to squirm around in. Maybe that will work better. I guess people aren't going to want to come over for turkey after that. So long!

Down In Front™: Burn After Reading

Hey people. You know who's a really great actor? J. K. Simmons. Probably his most famous role is J. Jonah Jameson, the guy who runs the newspaper in the Spider-Man movies. He's also in tons of cop shows. But he's really fantastic in Burn After Reading. I just saw that one Sunday. It's a pretty silly movie with two very big shocking moments. Brad Pitt is pretty hilarious too. Sometimes with Coen Brothers movies you have to really concentrate hard. Not so much with this one. Just relax and let it happen. I'd tell you which Coen Brothers movies it's better than and which it's worse than, but nobody ever agrees about which of their movies is good anyway, so it won't help. So long!

Superhero School: Ritchie

Hey everybody. Here is a character I designed for the picture book Superhero School (written by Aaron Reynolds) I'm illustrating. The text didn't get into each character's costume or abilities too deeply, so I had to just come up with something super-looking for each kid.

Are You a Horse Endpages

Hey everybody. Scholastic contacted me on Friday and said, "We need endpages for Are You a Horse stat!" Endpages are the pages in front and back of a book pasted down to the inside of the cover. I didn't realize I'd have an opportunity to design them this time. I had to come up with something that could be printed in a single color on some kind of colored paper stock. This is a detail of what I came up with. Click on it to see it bigger if you like. This might also make a good wrapping or wallpaper. It's hailing here. How's the weather where you are?

Before We Forget

Hey folks. With all the hoopla about John and Sarah and Joe and Barack, I'd better go ahead and put this thing I did for The New York Times on the blog before we all forget who any of these people are. Here you go!
